For a decade, Alicia Ross has juxtaposed the fetishistic and
conceptual into her own ideology of body and self. Beginning her career as a two-dimensional image-maker, her work has
evolved to encompass various facets of multi-media and
conceptuality. Raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, Alicia
later obtained a Masters of Fine Arts in the Imaging Arts from the
Rochester Institute of Technology.
Alicia
has widely exhibited
her work at the national level and has
been published internationally. In October 2008, Alicia concluded her debut NYC solo-exhibition
entitled
Sacred_Profane
at the Black
& White Gallery in Chelsea. The exhibition was awarded New York
Magazine’s Critics’ Pick and was published in Flash Art
Magazine (International Edition), Saatchi Online and
the Village Voice.
Most recently, Alicia was interviewed by the PBS Documentary Series
Art:21 for their online blog.
